Influence of DPC at wall base

Damp proof course (DPC) can be specified at the base of a free-standing wall. It increases durability but decreases structural resistance.

DPC can specified by going to Input > Wall

  • With DPC at base, cracked moment resistance applies.
  • Without DPC at base, elastic moment resistance applies.

Consider the diagram below. Without DPC at base, the design is adequate, but with DPC at base, the design fails.
